Galveston Island Nature Tourism Council · All aboard! Join us for a longtime FeatherFest tradition - a boat trip on the historic SS Seagull II to see the amazing nesting activities of thousands of birds on the protected North Deer Island rookery during peak breeding season. The 48-passenger catamaran offers views from upper and lower decks on the voyage from the Galveston Harbor out to the rookery islands, where the boat will drift quietly nearby to allow for extended observation of this awe-inspiring spectacle. This trip also provides photo opps of harbor activity and rookery activity. Today, three of them took a trip to Gulf Coast Animal Eye Clinic with the GCSTR team where Dr. Wagner was able to give eye exams. These patients suffered from physical trauma and eye ulcers, and behaviorally are showing signs of impaired vision. With Dr. Flanagan from the Houston Zoo, we are adjusting treatment plans for these turtles so that they can continue to heal and get back to the Gulf! Thank you to our veterinarian partners for their care! #gcstr #sharethegulf #everybodyrow #saveseaturtles political ad paid for by Beau Rawlins For Galveston City Council District 5. ABOUT THIS PAGEHome to 29 million people, Texas is one of the largest states in the country by both population and land mass. The colloquialism that “everything is bigger in Texas” is fitting, as it encompasses more than 260,000 square miles of terrain that varies from mountain forests to extensive coastline. Texas has more than 800 different habitat types. This greatly diverse terrain gives rise to a tremendous variety of native and endemic wildlife. The list of Texas’s native and introduced animals includes 540 species of birds and 142 species of mammals, amphibians, and other animals. Categories |
