Congratulations The League City Police Department is celebrating Chief Cliff Woitena's 25-year work anniversary!! Chief Woitena has worked in many roles at the PD including K9 Officer, Field Training Officer, Maritime Safety Enforcement Officer, Bicycle Patrol Officer, Firearms/Tactics Instructor, Certified Mental Health Officer, Honor Guard Member, and a Galveston County Auto Crimes Task Force agent. He has also served in various supervisory positions within the Operations and Support Services Bureaus. One constant within his career with LCPD was his 19-year assignment to the agency’s special weapons and tactics (SWAT) team. Chief has served in almost every capacity on the team, culminating in his appointment as the overall Commander for the Combined Agency Response Team (CART) for League City, Alvin, and Pearland. He left CART upon appointment to the position of Chief of Police. League City Police Department 2023 Officer of the Year The League City Police Department has awarded Officer Drew Duarte with the 2023 Officer of the Year award recognizing her unwavering dedication and exceptional service.Known for her positive attitude and strong work ethic, Officer Duarte consistently volunteers for challenging tasks and exhibits exemplary leadership as a Field Training Officer. Some of Officer Duarte's notable achievements in 2023 include her commitment to public safety by performing life-saving measures at a major accident scene and securing Intoxication Manslaughter charges against the suspect for that incident. Additionally, her swift action and collaboration with neighboring agencies resulted in felony charges in a shots fired incident which occurred in League City. Officer Duarte's keen investigative skills were pivotal in solving a murder case, showcasing her invaluable contributions to the community and the department. These are just a few examples that demonstrate how Officer Duarte's dedication to police work and the community reflects highly upon herself and the department.
